Achievable Rates for Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding
نویسندگان
چکیده
This correspondence examines Tomlinson–Harashima precoding (THP) on discrete-time channels having intersymbol interference and additive white Gaussian noise. An exact expression for the maximum achievable information rate of zero-forcing (ZF) THP is derived as a function of the channel impulse response, the input power constraint, and the additive white Gaussian noise variance. Information rate bounds are provided for the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) THP. The performance of ZF-THP and MMSE-THP relative to each other and to channel capacity is explored in general and for some example channels. The importance of symbol rate to ZF-THP performance is demonstrated.

Single-Carrier Transmission with Joint Tomlinson- Harashima Precoding and Frequency-Domain Equalization
Abstract—The performance of the single-carrier (SC) transmission in a frequency-selective fading channel degrades due to a severe inter-symbol interference (ISI). By using frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion at a receiver, the bit error rate (BER) performance of the SC transmission can be significantly improved. Recently, Tomlinson-Harashi...
متن کاملTrellis precoding for the broadcast channel
This paper considers the vector Gaussian broadcast channel where a single transmitter with multiple antennas sends independent information to multiple receivers. An achievable rate region is derived by decomposing the broadcast channel into a series of single-user channels with non-causal side information. The side information may be completely pre-subtracted using precoding techniques. A pract...
متن کاملLattice-Reduction-Aided Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding for Point-to-Multipoint Transmission
A new version of Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP) for multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) channels with decentralised receivers employing lattice reduction is introduced. The proposed method clearly outperforms linear equalisation and conventional THP and in particular shows full diversity order.

The performance of single-carrier (SC) transmission in a frequency-selective fading channel degrades due to a severe inter-symbol interference (ISI). Using frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of SC transmission. However, the residual ISI after FDE limits the performance improvement. In this ...
متن کاملComparison of precoding schemes for digital subscriber lines
|Precoding at the transmitter side is a practicable method for transmission over intersymbol interference channels. In contrast to decision{feedback equalization no error propagation occurs and coded modulation can be applied as for the intersymbol interference free channel. In this paper, Tomlinson{Harashima precoding and exible precoding are analyzed and compared. The dualities and di erences...
